yes? NaNO3 is Hydroscopic, it can be used to make an inferior grade of
black
power.

Ref. Dupont's Blasters Handbook 1925, listing both "A power" made with
KNO3
and "B power" made with NaNO3, they state that B power is inferior to A
powder.
B powder  was used more often because it is cheaper, but A powder was used
for the finest work.

71% NaNO3
17% charcoal
12% Sulfur
This appears to be the most common formula.
