That's interesting. Sounds like quite a high ratio of shellac to
alcohol in the "paint." The formula, which I found on this group,
states the following:

Lampblack          3
Meal Powder        4
Antimony Sulfide  1/2
Bound with 2-oz ****lac in alcohol

Of course, this doesn't help much with no amount given for alcohol.

I just reread the post and found that it came from Davis, which I have
at home. I'll skim it after work to see if more info is given, because
I do have a partial can of liquid shellac in the garage that needs to
be used for something.
