Sorry I did not clarify page 360 of Lancaster Fireworks Principles and
Practices 3rd edition gives this recipe along with 4 other that use Pine
Soot
%
KNO3 50
Sulphur 34
Paulownia Charcoal 8
Pine Charcoal 8
Each Senko uses 0.1 grams or 1.5 grains of comp.
I have used various types of charcoal from cheap"chunk" bagged coal for
the
grill to just about anything else I can buy or make. What surprised me was
that the cheap grill charcoal for the full 16% gave some of the best
results. The lump of grill coal was ground in a Mortar and Pestle until
fine
( I know vague term ) then dry mixed with the other ingredients in the
Mortar. Please note I work with 100 grain batches. Quite honestly I have
more fun with these Senkos, they are just plain cool. And yes some of the
batches have not worked that is why good record keeping is im****tant.
Ok anyone else have a good starting project for a newbie.
