There isn't much "gullet", but like a grinding wheel, it can be clogged
with soft metals. Aluminum is particularly terrible and must be ground
with special discs rated for the stuff. Ordinary discs clog and the metal
can wedge in, expand, crack and essentially "CATO" the disc at however
many
thousand RPM it's turning at. Not a pretty sight, no matter how much PPE
you're wearing.

But steel isn't exactly gummy, is it? No, not really, but there's
something else at work here. At the cutting edge, temperatures are very
high, and what does hot iron do with carbon? It dissolves. So diamond
cutting tools must be heavily cooled when cutting steel, or else the
cutting edge literally dissolves away into the chips.

Boron nitride, the cubic stuff, is analogous to diamond and indeed doesn't
suffer from the same problem, hence Don's fancy Barranca blades.
