Burlap may work OK with the glue - Try using the nylon seam tape used
for drywall. They also make it in 36" rolls for texturing and things.
I have also used it to beef up paper tubes for other applications. The
stuff is really strong, some has hat light glue that adhears until
glued or pasted. Works wonders for breaks with less wet pasting. Have
fun :-)
