so earlier today i was talking with a buddy and he told me that he had
a really cool thermite mixture and that what he did was put magnesium
mixed with bp and thermite then make a slurr with isopropyl alcohol.
so i asked, "won't the magnesium just react and create hydrogen gas
then be gone with" he said that most of it would but some would be
left to ignite the thermite. so i did this and once i placed it on a
plastic paper to dry out i luckily noticed that it started getting
hot. so i took it outside set it in down where nothing could catch
fire and then what happens 3-4 hours later. it bursts into flames
burning a nice black pot hole into my drive way. does anyone know why
it would create so much heat, is it just the mg and isopropyl alcohol
or all the thermite and bp chemicals have something to do with it. i
would really like to know because then i could use this for chemical
delays.
the bp was sulfur, potassium nitrate and charcoal, thermite was iron
oxide and aluminum.
thanks
