I think the best perchlorate/ carbonate red without metal is a
modification of the above formula adding a little PVC and a bit more
charcoal dust or lampblack (ignition and faster burning/wind speed
resistance) as given by Dr. ****mizu (who is now 95 years old, God
bless him!)

Potassium Perchlorate       66%
Accroides resin (red gum)  13
Lampblack (or Paulonia coal)   2
Strontium carbonate          12
Polyvinyl Chloride               2
Soluble glutinous rice starch  5

Dextrine will work fine.
