That was one of the good things about the OLD standard
(black = hot, and white = neutral).  But I notice that now
the eurostandard power cables come with a green safety
ground wire with a yellow stripe (vs. solid color).  Perhaps
that was meant to work around the colorblindness problem.

For whatever politically-incorrect reason, most electricians
are likely male, and red/green colorblindness is one of the
most common types in men.
