certification

by "thewendy" <jodikdalton@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Mar 18, 2008 at 01:12 AM

I learned everything I know on the job from a 30yr union vet of the
business and through self education (and I'm still learning). I have
nothing against college students but I've noticed that the majority of the
ones that come through my PAC already know everything. by example; I was
giving a tour to a student who told me he had been a TD and LD for the
last 3 years. As I was explaining that our rail is a 26 pipe double
purchase fly system he looked me dead in the eye and said 'what's a rail?'
Incidentally he screwed up the one and only curtain cue he had on every
single performance, but you couldn't tell the guy ANYTHING.

I certainly don't want to be grouped in with that martian, but I would
like a bit of paper that says I know what I'm doing. So,is it
advantageous to be ETCP certified or is it a waste of money and time?
Thoughts?
