Rob,

You could refer to the standard for this, which is an ANSI/ESTA
standard, ANSI E1.15 - 2006.  It was written by Richard Nix who's an
occasional poster to this group.  That should be the standard
reference.  Fifty years means that it is a technique developed before
NIOSH could slap you around properly for industrial accidents.  Better
to look at modern practice.

In the interests of full disclosure, I did a little editing on the
do***ent.
