Yes, I had previously tried the approach of (carefully) sliding the
whole lamp
housing in and out a bit to try to find the correct new position, but
if you're
right about the lamp needing to go *in* further, then that might
explain why
I was unable to find the correct spot with this method. I would have
to first
adjust all 3 screws to move the lamp further in (perhaps more than it
really
needs) and then try to look for the sweet spot again by sliding the
whole
housing a bit.
