So I went to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert in Pittsburgh last
night to check out some of the tech, and I saw two fixture types I've
never seen before. I've been poking around online, and can't find that
much, so hopefully someone has some good input:
1) I saw moving-head intelligent fixtures that seemed very typical
(mac 2000-ish, but larger), but they had an LED ring around the lens.
The LED's didn't pump out much light compared to the actual beam, so
it was more about the look of the fixture itself.
2) They were using some sort of pyro unit to burn fuel and make tall
thin flames. The amazing thing was that there were able to control the
color of the flames. Sometimes it was cyan, sometimes green, sometimes
deep red. I know some materials burn at different colors, but I've
never seen anything this brilliant in color, and I've never seen a
unit that could do this sort of thing.
Any ideas?
