As some have said already, Sunday evening has never been a common
option on Broadway. (Though it's common, indeed standard, off-
Broadway.) Only a handful do it at any given time. Traditionally
(going way back) Monday evening performance was standard, but for
decades now, shows have been doing a Sunday matinee instead.
The idea of the late-afternoon show (5 or thereabouts) on Saturday has
never caught on the US as it long ago did in London, except for
special cases like one-man or sketch-type entertainments done without
intermission. And on occasion a production will experiment with a
really different schedule, like taking Tuesday as well as Monday off,
eliminating the Wednesday matinee (it's a regular feature only in NYC
anyway, a survivor from another era), and adding something
unconventional like a Friday matinee. (What shows have done that? -- I
seem to recall that LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! tried it for at least
part of its run.)
