I saw Pearl Bailey in Milwaukee at the PAC about 35 (give or take a few)
years ago. The only piece of scenery on the stage was a rocking chair.
When Ms. Bailey walked onto the stage cameras went off all over the
theater. She stopped her program immediately and scolded the audience.
(Good for her!) Then she announced that she was leaving the stage and
would return a minute later and did not want to see any flashes. She
added that she would remain after the show and allow those in attendance
with cameras to approach the stage for pictures. She was a real class

I loved her in HELLO, DOLLY! and in a live TV presentation of A MEMBER
OF THE WEDDING. Today I think I'll play ARMS AND THE GIRL.
