Re: I'm listening to...

The recent two-piano recording of "Marinka" by the Operetta Foundation. 
It's interesting to compare it with the Ohio Light Opera version that I 
saw Saturday night, which is planned to come out on DVD in a year or 
two. It's also interesting to hear a Kálmán show that was written in 
English and for Broadway in the first place. George Marion, Jr., was no 
W. S. Gilbert, but his lyrics for "Marinka" still come off better than 
any singing translation I've ever heard -- of, well, anything.

Apparently Wildhorn has a new show based on the same story.
