Thanks very much - it occurred to me there might be a book like this
out there, as I have the Berlin, ****ter and Loesser lyric books - sure
enough, I found it and it is being ****pped to me post-haste!

I'm really surprised that "War Bride" has only one verse and chorus -
it seems like the kind of song that might go on and on with the
military references...I am fond of the "I Got Rhythm" dummy lyrics,
wherein Ira experiments with two different rhyme schemes:
Roly Poly
Eating solely
Ravioli
Better watch your diet or bust
Lunch or dinner
You're a sinner
Please get thinner
Losing all that fat is a must

or

Just go forward
don't look backward
And you'll soon be
Winding up ahead of the game

On another note, why are these songs so short, with just one verse and
chorus? Am I correct in envisioning a dance break or instrumental part
in the middle to lengthen them when performed?

Cheers!
Amy :)
