Cabaret (Re: TV tie-in to musicals: It's a Bird...)

I've Got a Secret had a lady on who had an office job normally but her
secret was: She played the trombone onstage in a Broadway musical!

She had no other regular connection to show business and when a panelist
asked her "Does what you do give you pleasure?" she said "Not at all!"
Must be some untold baggage there.

After the secret was revealed, that she played onstage in the new
musical Cabaret, contestant and the other ladies (they in their
costumes) from the Kit Kat band played the title song in a show-related
arrangement. Wonderful little time capsule of something from the past,
which we normally connect only to still photographs and audio-only
recordings.

The next show I saw had secretaries as contestants, and Steve Allen said
to one of them "Didn't you play the trombone here last week?
