I think the regular series (Feb/March/May) essentially concentrates on
those
neglected shows, with an occasional exception.
The summer series doesn't have the same objective - it runs three weeks,
so
you really can't focus on lesser known shows and fill the house. It's
more
of an attempt to bring back something NY used to have - classic shows done
in limited runs (City Center did this years ago, akin to Music Theater of
Lincoln Center in the sixties).
The institution of the summer series doesn't compromise the regular
Encores!
season.
