South Pacific Is Big Winner in Outer Critics Circle Awards

South Pacific won four awards, the most of any show of the season. In
addition to the prize for Outstanding Revival of a Musical, the
acclaimed production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical at Lincoln
Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater also won awards for Director of a
Musical, Actor in a Musical and Featured Actor in a Musical.

Young Frankenstein and Xanadu were both named Outstanding New Broadway
Musical, and Adding Machine and Next to Normal =97 both seen
Off-Broadway =97 were awarded the prize for Outstanding New Score.

The Outer Critics Circle Awards are decided upon by a group of writers
"covering New York theatre for out-of town newspapers, national
publications and other media beyond Broadway."

The new Mel Brooks musical Young Frankenstein had earned the most
nominations.
