Never realized the same (I think it's actually three) notes also
starts "Cool."  Good observation.

And the same notes start the "Dance at the Gym" sequence, and you get
the cha-cha-cha "Maria" section when Tony and Maria meet.

How about Kern's inverting the melody of "Cotton Blossom" to create
"Ol' Man River," which I think is a really neat musical idea?
