I love "Quiet Night" - as I do the whole score of "On Your Toes."
If I had to name one favorite Rodgers and Hart song (and it's almost
impossible to do so, because there are so, so, many incredibe songs),
I might say "Why Can't I?" - one of the most perfect blends of
achingly haunting melody and wistfully longing lyric ever, IMO. (And
yes, the Dawn Upshaw / Audra McDonald recording of the song is lovely,
though I personally like the song a bit more lyrical and less "uptempo
jazz"-y. It's a great "wallow" song, lol)
