Now hold on just a minute. I'll admit that the score to "Mack And
Mabel" is certainly worth hearing (though I don't think it's his BEST
score all around, it does have a number of marvelous songs) - but I
recently had my first experience reading the show's book - the
*revised* book, mind you - and I was so disappointed to see how thin
and contrived the book really is. "Some substance worth fighting for?"
You're entitled to your opinion, but aside from a concert presentation
of the songs, I can't agree there's any sort of satisfying show in
"Mack And Mabel" as it exists now.
