My next guess would be that there's trouble with the DMX. If the signal
is lost, some dimmers will stay with the current cue, or a preset, or off.
If the signal is erratic, who knows what could happen. Does this
randomness happen if you have a short cable connecting your desk to the
dimmers,
with you and the desk in the same room? What does the front panel LCD say
in the 'live dimmer status' screen when this happens?
