One of the traditional arts of Turks is shadow play karagoz. The shadow
puppets theatre Karagoz , which involves two-dimensional figures casting
their shadows on a screen. The size of the karagoz screen in the past was 2
m x 2.5 m, in more recent times it was reduced to 1 m x 1.60 m. Karagoz
master stands behind the screen, holding the puppets against it and using
a lamp as a light source from behind. The lamp is preferable as it throws
a good shadow and makes the characters flicker, this giving them a more
life like appearance.
