I've actually been reading the FBI file. It's fourteen sepearate
PDF files nad, unfortunately, about half of them won't download.

Apparently you decided to read it too, at least part 1a, since
your cites seem to come directly from that part.

Note that these are all allegations made in the depths of the
McCarthy era. There seems to be little proof. Einstein is said to
be "affiliated with" these groups, some of which were pacifist
groups and soem of which had laudable objectives even though tehy
had sup****t from Communists. For instance, Communist sup****t of
free speech is obvipously self-serving but nevertheless it is an
express right in the US constitution.

It has been amusing reading Part 1a, just to see the sort of
stuff J Edgar Hoover kept. Anonymous postcards to J Edgar saying
to watch out for Einstein. But my favorite is the card saying...

  "ALBERT EINSTEIN
Are we safe with Atomic Energy as logn as we have men like
Einstein on our list? Watch out for him."

....followed by a parenthetical ...

"(P.S. Flying saucers are small experiments by Russia for disks
1000 times larger -- later on)"

.... and signed ...

   "American"

But my favorite Spy vs Spy part is the several internal memos to
J Edgar from D.M. Ladd, starting on 25 April 1949:

"I thought you might be interested in the following information
furnished to the Los Angeles Office by [deleted]."

"Accordint to [deleted] is quite friendly with Mrs Albert
Einstein, and the Einsteins have informed her that all their
present actions are influenced by the fact that Albert Einstein,
Jr. is presently in the Soviet Union. [deleted] also advised
[deleted] that Mrs Albert Einsteind is "scared to deaath" [sic
quotes] over the cact that her son is in Russia and may be held
as a hostage to force some particualr action on the part of
Professor Einstein"

"It is not known at this time whether Albert Einstein, Jr. is in
fact in the Soviet Union."

Well, hell. Albert Einstein, Jr. may have not only been in the
Soviet Union he might have been sleeping with Stalin for all it
mattered. The first simple fact is that THE Albert Einstein
didn't have a son Albert Einstein, Jr. He did have a son named
Hans Albert Einstein, but that's not a "Jr". The second simple
fact is that there was no Mrs Albert Einstein at the time the
incident supposedly occured because Einstein's second and last
wife had died years earlier.

But did anyone at the FBI point out that the people in question
simply didn't exist? Noooooo. They sent more memos indicating
they were making inquires at Princeton as to the whereabouts of
Albert Einstein, Jr. This went on well into 1950 adn may have
gone longer but I can's seem to download Part 1b.

I'm not going to sit down and try to ferret out which of the
organizations you mention above was actually a Communist
organization nor whether it was on the infamous Attorney
General's List of Subversive Organizations, a list largely
compiled by paranoids. I had to sign loyalty oaths swearing I
didn't belong to any of the organizations on the list a couple of
times, the last on being inducted into the Army in 1960.

It's really hard to take the file seriously, but as a student of
American history and having lived through the era I'm going to
read as much as I can.

>>Did I tell you he was banging other girls while he was married?

Oooooh. Cool. Gossip: Famous person cheats on spouse. But years
too late. Anyone who has read one of the several biographies on
Einstein already knows that. He was a very talented guy and
talent is an aphrodisiac, not to mention he wasn't bad-looking
when he was young.

You must be very naive to think that spousal infdelity is
exciting dirt.

>It has be said that Albert Einstein was *worse* than Stalin.

Really? Einstein did something as bad as killing and dispossesing
millions of Kulaks? Or deliberately causing a famine that starved
to death up to seven million farmers?

>That
>could explain why Israel wanted him to be President of Israel.

Because he didn't mind killing off millions of potential
opponents.

>That Omert guy you got as Prime Minister of Israel, he's is garbge.
>You should just shoot him.

I thought the subject was Einstein.

Do you agree with German scientists like Philipp Lenard that
Einstein's theories of relativity are "Jew science" and should
not be used by red-blooded non-Jewish scientists?
