2006 Hills Film Festival Takes the Hills to Hollywood
Calling for Entries!
The Hills is planning to showcase itself to Hollywood with the official
launch of the inaugural 2006 Hills Film Festival running in association
with
this year's Orange Blossom Festival.
The Hills Film Festival endeavours to highlight the "best of the best"
film-makers in the Hills district and is open to all film productions,
screened or unscreened, including short films made by HSC students.
The inaugural festival will have two entry options to ensure all current
and
prospective film makers can be involved right from the beginning, whether
it
is entry into the "2006 Hills Film Festival" or the "2007 Orange Blossom
Festival Unwrapped".
People in the Hills, schools and community groups are being encouraged to
get involved in the competition. Entries close on 31 August 2006.
Entries cover films of any length with categories including drama, comedy,
lifestyle and do***entary, and age groups cover under 18 years or open.
Prizes will include Best Film, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best
Editing, Best Sound, Most Resourceful, Best Screenplay and Highly
Commended.
The winning entries will be announced at a gala awards night and charity
screening on 23 September 2006 at the Castle Grand, Castle Hill. A
highlight
of the evening will be the screening of international film called "10
Canoes", awarded at the Cannes International Film Festival earlier this
year.
Hills Film Festival 2006 Organising Committee Chairman, Tim Shepherd is
extremely excited about the great op****tunity for people to enter existing
films as well as the op****tunity of filming events during this year's
Orange
Blossom Festival.
"Even though we are only accepting existing productions this year, people
now have the op****tunity of commencing production on new films for the
2007
competition," Mr Shepherd said.
"We are running a second competition alongside the main festival this year
called - 'Orange Blossom Festival Unwrapped'. This is a 12 month event
that
launches now for completion during the 2007 Orange Blossom Festival. Based
around the theme of "Perspectives of our Community", centering on this
year's festival events," Mr Shepherd added.
