Hi All,
This year, 2005, is the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Guy
Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot on November 5th 1605. As you may recall,
Guy was found in the cellars below the then Houses of Parliament with
three score barrels of powder, ready to blow up King James I of
England.
Every year, this anniversary is celebrated in the UK, no more so than
in a town called Lewes, East Sus***. It's about 50 miles south of
London. there are torchlight processions, bonfires and firework
displays organised by the 5 Lewes Bonfire societies.
Which is the reason for this post.
I am a member of the Cliffe Bonfire Society, one of the oldest in
Lewes, who have been celebrating since 1853. Our celebrations are
completely self funded, with no financial or physical help from any of
the local authorities, so we have to do a lot of fundraising.
We have taken advantage of the 400th anniversary to produce a range of
items to celebrate the discovery. These items haven't got any
references to any Bonfire societies on them, just Mr Fawkes.
The web site is;

Where you can take a look at what we're doing and selling and maybe, if
the fancy takes you, to make a purchase. International ****pping is not
a problem, more of a pleasure for us. there's full on-line ordering as
well. we have stickers, fridge magnets, tin badges, silicon wristbands,
and t-****rts.
There's some links on there to more bonfire related web pages and also
a bit of a history section.

many thanks for your time, and I hope you can help us celebrate this
traditional English historic festival in a colourful and loud fa****on!
